Not many people are familiar with the term “payment links”; let alone know which steps to take when they receive a payment link. Anything new might seem a bit scary, however, knowing what it is and how to use it will give you more confidence to use the feature.

The first thought that may come to mind is: “Is this safe and secure?” In this blog, we’ll explain just what payment links are and why they can be of benefit to both you as the patient and the practitioner.

We will specifically focus on the payment request feature that has been developed in GoodX Software. This feature will be used by your medical practitioner to send you payment requests to settle your account at the practice. An infographic of the steps and the benefits of using the functionality is included below

Introduction to Payment Links

Let’s start by giving you a quick explanation on what a payment link is. In general, a payment link is an online payment method. In GoodX Software, the payment request is sent by the practitioner to the patient after a consultation and as soon as the patient clicks on the payment link, the patient will be taken to a secure online FNB payment portal.

Faster at the speed of a click

Payment links are online transactions which quickly provide feedback to both the practitioner and the patient. The payment process is thus quicker than ever – at the speed of a click.

Simplified and easier process

The simplest way to ensure that you are up to date with your payments is through the payment link process because it is easy to follow and very efficient for both parties. With the click of a link and a Pay button, you won’t get behind on payments.

Safe and secure for both parties

Payment links ensure a secure and intuitive payment process that is easy for all users. The online FNB payment page provides assurance that your information is safe and secure.

Reduces costs with physical transactions

Since online payments are usually automatic, they have lower labour costs than manual payment methods, such as cards, cheques, and cash.

Bonus Benefit

A bonus benefit of using this payment method is that it is cashless and also eliminates the risk of you getting infected by a virus, sickness, etc. as there is no direct physical contact needed to complete the payment. The fact that it’s cashless is another benefit in itself.

Got a Payment Request from Your Practitioner?

In our previous blog, we showed you how to make a Telemed booking and what to do after receiving a payment request with a payment link from your practitioner. However, payment requests are not limited to Telemed bookings. A payment request can be sent after any type of consultation. Your practitioner might also send you a payment request on an outstanding invoice or account from previous consultations.

The payment link process

Here are the steps to follow once you receive a payment request:

  • Your practitioner will send you a payment request message via SMS or email. This message will also include a payment link.
  • Before clicking on the payment link, ensure that the payment request you received is from your practitioner.
  • Simply click on the link to continue with your payment.
  • You will be directed to myGC where you will have to either:
    • enter the relevant RSA ID number if you don’t have a myGC account, or
    • log in to your myGC account and go to the Accounts tab where you can select the invoice you wish to pay.
  • Once you have done either of these, you will be transferred to the FNB payments page.
  • On this page, you will complete your payment after which the practitioner will be notified of your payment.
